Virtues Program 2009-2010Chairperson: Susan Mojave susanmojave@gmail.com 797-5416
Moral intelligence is the capacity to understand right from wrong; it means to have strong ethical convictions and to act on them so that one behaves in the right and honorable way. Our Virtues Program consists of the seven essential virtues found in "Building Moral Intelligence" by Dr. Michele Borba who presented workshops to NHCS administrators/teachers and parents in 2008.

This year's theme is Listen To Your Heart. Each Virtue, as interpreted from Dr. Borba's book, has been assigned a color. The children will be asked to wear an item of clothing representing the virtue on the FIRST FRIDAY of each month(unless otherwise noted):
Month
| Virtue
| Color
|
| October | Caring
| Red
|
| November | Honesty | Orange |
| December | Self-Control | Blue |
January 15th
| Respect | Yellow |
February 5th
| Kindness | Green |
March 5th
| Patience | Purple |
April 9th
| Fairness | White |
Teachers will model and demonstrate each virtue within their classrooms throughout the day. If a child is "caught" modeling the virtue, they will get a sticker to wear on their shirt.
Award winning composer/performer, "Red Grammer" , kicked off our Virtues Program on September 25, 2009 with an assembly in our gymnasium!
